We've encountered a lot of questions over the years, so we decided to make a whole page about it to help anyone interested in microblading. If there are still questions you need answered, please use the button below the FAQ section to get in touch!
Microblading is an eyebrow enhancing technique that utilizes superfine needle strokes to deposit small amounts of cosmetic pigments into the upper dermis of the skin. This method results in thin, hair-like strokes that blend in naturally with your real eyebrows.
At Winq, our goal is to create subtle, natural looking brows that are fuller and more defined than your current brows. This is the perfect solution for those who have thin, overplucked brows or brows with gaps that need to be filled.
We use only the highest quality pigments available along with sterile, disposable needles.
In preparation for your microblading appointment, we ask that you please:
Failure to abide by these rules may result in bleeding, which can ultimately affect how well your body retains the pigments.
At Winq, we highly recommend that you schedule a free brow consultation before you make your appointment for your first session. We know that the decision to microblade is a big one, so we want all our clients to feel completely comfortable and secure with their decision.
During your consultation, our specialists will work closely with you to discuss your brow goals, your lifestyle and any problem areas. If you wish, you can bring in a picture of your desired brow shape. Doing this helps us to best understand what you’re looking for.
We also help guide you in the process by showing you different brow shapes and styles that work well with your face shape and brow type. We come to a conclusion based on your preferences and our professional styling tips.
We welcome any questions, comments or concerns during your consultation. We want you to feel 100% comfortable and excited about your initial appointment.
When it comes to your initial session, here is what you can expect:
The entire process should take somewhere between 2-3 hours. We start by creating your brow look stand by strand by hand.
Next, a topical numbing cream is applied to the area and stays on for about 20 minutes.
We then take a special tool that allows us to make tiny, hair-like incisions into the skin. These shallow cuts are then filled with the highest grade pigments that were hand selected to perfectly compliment you natural brows.
Once your procedure is complete, we provide you with your after care instructions and send you on your way. Most people head back to their normal routine immediately following their appointment.
Your touch up session will be scheduled somewhere in the 4-6 week range after your initial appointment. It is important to understand that your treatment is not complete until you receive your touch up.
During this appointment, we will access how your skin has healed and will make touch ups as necessary to ensure your brows are perfect. You can expect this session to run anywhere from 60-90 minutes.
This procedure is considered a semi-permanent procedure. This means that the pigments will naturally begin to fade overtime.
In order to maintain your best brow look, it is recommended that you come in for a touch up at least once per year.
Your eyebrow area will be slightly red immediately following the procedure and the pigment will appear very dark. Don’t be alarmed! This is a completely normal part of the healing process and the pigment will begin to fade. In fact, the color will fade up to 40% as it heals.
In the days following, the area may continue to be dark with some slight scabbing. Again, this is par for the course. The most important thing is to not pick at the scabs. Doing so can cause damage to the skin which can affect the outcome of your brows.
You can rest assured that the color of your brows will lighten up with every passing day, with the color fully setting in around the 1 month mark.
You may notice that around the two mark of healing, your brows will look very light and your skin will have an opaque look to it. This is known as milk skin and is very common in tattooing. This is an indication that the skin is still healing on the inside even though the outside surface has already healed. Around the 1 month mark, the true color will be revealed.
Rome wasn’t built in a day, neither are perfect brows!
Most clients describe the level of pain as mild to none. Prior to your procedure, your brow professional will apply a medical grade topical anesthetic to the area to numb it. This cream will also be applied during the procedure to ensure you aren’t feeling much, if anything at all.
That being said, every person responds to anesthetic differently. Some clients have described feeling light scratches, while others state they felt no pain.
If you wish, you can take Tylenol prior to your appointment to help with the pain as well. DO NOT take aspirin or ibuprofen as these are blood thinners and can affect the outcome of your procedure.
The pigments injected into your eyebrows do not go as deep into the skin as traditional tattoos, so the area will naturally begin to fade over time. You can expect your results to last anywhere from 1-3 years, dependent on your skin type and lifestyle.
Each person’s ability to retain the pigment will vary. We highly recommend that clients come in for a touch up every year to keep their brows looking their best. If you choose not to get follow treatments, the area will fade and may leave a shadow behind.
There are certain cases in which microblading is not a good option. If you fall under any of the following categories, this treatment is not recommended:

Allergic reactions to the pigment are rare, however, it is possible for certain individuals, especially those will high skin sensitivities or are sensitive to:
